چکیده

Abstract Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), also known as the harlequin ladybird, is an invasive non-native species intentionally introduced to many countries a biological control agent of agricultural pests. In Greece, H. was first in 1994, with releases taking place between 1994 and 2000. For years there no evidence indicate that had established self-sustaining populations. 2008, citizen science campaign initiated aimed at raising awareness regarding status farmers agronomists. The did not yield results, it discontinued 2011. During this study, distribution, phenology, presence different habitat types protected areas Greece are investigated, using both data literature records. Records from iΝaturalist, Alientoma database social media examined herein demonstrate has been since 2010. currently present 13 administrative districts most them considerable distance initial release sites. ladybird urban habitats well seventeen NATURA 2000 adverse socioeconomic environmental impacts briefly discussed alongside suggestions for management activities. Based on our findings, we propose establishment national monitoring scheme native ladybirds will encourage public participation recording observations provide information spread impact species.

The effect of the coccinellid Harmonia axyridis (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

The coccinellid Harmonia axyridis is a recent arrival in the UK and is an intraguild predator of the entomopathogenic fungus Pandora neoaphidis. Harmonia axyridis entirely consumes P. neoaphidis-sporulating cadavers and this may have a negative effect on the epizootic potential of P. neoaphidis. Here we assessed within plant transmission, and between plant vectoring, of P. neoaphidis in the pre...

Larval feeding on Bt hybrid and non-Bt corn seedlings by Harmonia axyridis (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) and Coleomegilla maculata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae).

Zoophytophagy is an omnivorous activity that occurs when a primarily carnivorous species feeds on plant material. Plant feeding by beneficial predators may have negative consequences if the plant material has been chemically treated, contains toxins, or was transgenically altered. Although common in predaceous Hemiptera, zoophytophagy has been rarely studied in aphidophagous coccinellids. This ...

Effect of microtrichia on the interlocking mechanism in the Asian ladybeetle, Harmonia axyridis (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

The hindwings of beetles are folded under the elytra when they are at rest but are extended during flight, which can provide bioinspiration for the design of deployable micro air vehicles (MAVs). Beetle hindwings must be able to be both securely locked under the elytra and freely extended for flight, depending on the required action. To investigate the locking mechanism, this study used environ...
